How to Choose a Disposable Vape
With hundreds of devices on the wall, picking one can feel like a lot. Here’s the short, no-nonsense way our staff narrows it down for people every day.
1. Start with puff count
Puff count is roughly how long the device lasts, and it’s usually the number right in the name — a “25K” lasts about 25,000 puffs, a “9000” about 9,000. It’s the fastest way to narrow the wall down:
- Light / occasional user? You don’t need the biggest one. A 9K–15K device like the RAZ TN9000 or Geek Bar Pulse 15K is plenty and costs less.
- Go through devices fast? A high-capacity RAZ RX 50K or Lost Mary MT35000 Turbo stretches much further before you’re back in the shop.
Bigger isn’t automatically better — it’s about matching the device to how much you actually vape.
2. Pick a nicotine strength
Most disposables sold in the U.S. are 5% (50 mg/mL) nicotine salt, which is strong and smooth. Some brands offer lower strengths (2–3%). If you’re newer to vaping or find 5% too harsh, ask us — a lower-nicotine option or a smoother-hitting device makes a real difference. All nicotine vapes are 21+ with valid ID.
3. Flavor is where the fun is
This is the most personal part, and it’s where a wall of 100+ flavors earns its keep. Think in families: ice/menthol, fruit, dessert, tobacco, candy-style, and drink flavors. If you liked your last device, tell us the flavor and we’ll get you close. If you didn’t, tell us what was off (too sweet, too harsh, faded fast) and we’ll steer you somewhere better. Some devices like the Lost Mary 4-in-1 pod system hold four flavors at once — handy if you can’t decide.
4. Consider the extras
Modern disposables aren’t just a battery and a coil anymore. A few features worth caring about:
- Screen — shows battery and e-liquid level so you’re never surprised. The Geek Bar Pulse X and Lost Mary NERA Fullview are known for their displays.
- Adjustable airflow — lets you tune the draw tighter or airier.
- Dual / boost mode — a button that trades some battery life for bigger, denser clouds.
- Mesh coil — most quality devices use one now; it gives more consistent flavor from first puff to last.
- USB-C rechargeable — nearly all big-capacity devices recharge so you can use every drop of e-liquid. (More in our vape battery guide.)
5. Make sure it’s authentic
This is the one people skip and regret. Counterfeit disposables are everywhere — gas stations, corner stores, sketchy online sellers — and a fake can look identical outside while being nothing like the real thing inside (wrong e-liquid, weak battery, half the advertised puffs). Buy from a real shop that stocks authentic devices, and if a brand offers an authenticity code, scan it. Everything on our vape wall is genuine, checked in from the brands.
