What Do Smoke Shops Sell? A Walk Along the Wall

If you’ve never been inside one, a smoke shop can look like a wall of brightly colored boxes with no labels that make sense. Here’s what’s actually on it, section by section.

Updated October 2026 · iSmokee Orlando & Kissimmee

The short answer

Most smoke shops sell some mix of these:

Not every shop carries all of it, and what’s on the shelf changes week to week. Below is what each section actually is, and the one or two things worth asking about each.

Behind the counter: vapes

Disposables are most of the wall

Walk into almost any smoke shop and the first thing you see is a wall of disposable vapes — small, pre-filled devices you use until they’re empty and then throw away. Brands like Lost Mary, RAZ and Geek Bar come in dozens of flavors each, and new models land constantly.

They usually sit behind the counter, so you’ll be pointing and asking. That’s normal.

Ask which kind you’re looking at

Disposables don’t all contain the same thing, and boxes can look very similar across categories. If you’re not sure what a particular one is, ask. It’s the most useful question you can ask at the vape counter.

Popular brands are also the most copied. If you want to know how to spot a fake, we wrote guides for Lost Mary and RAZ, and a general one on checking a cart before you buy.

Flower and pre-rolls

Many smoke shops now carry hemp flower, usually labeled as THCA flower, kept in jars or sealed packs. Pre-rolls are the same thing already rolled, sold singly or in packs.

The thing worth asking for here is the lab report, sometimes called a COA. A good shop can show you one for what’s on its shelf. If you’ve never read one, here’s how to read a lab report. See our flower selection.

Edibles, gummies and drinks

This shelf has grown fast. You’ll typically find gummies and other edibles, canned THC drinks, and mushroom gummies.

Mushroom gummies confuse people more than anything else in the shop, because the name doesn’t tell you what’s in them. We wrote a separate guide on what’s actually in them. Read the label, and ask if it doesn’t answer your question.

CBD

Gummies, tinctures and edibles, usually on their own shelf. Look for the same thing as with flower: a lab report that matches the batch. Here’s our CBD selection.

Kratom

Kratom comes in three main forms: extract shots, powders and capsules. If someone in your group asked you to pick some up, find out which form and which product they meant before you go — the shelf has a lot of similar-looking options. See our kratom shelf.

Glass

This is the section that gave smoke shops their old nickname, head shops. Hand pipes, bongs, bubblers and dab rigs, in everything from simple clear glass to collector pieces.

If you don’t know the difference between those four, you’re in good company — here’s bong vs bubbler vs dab rig in plain English. Browse our glass.

Hookahs and shisha

Hookahs, the flavored shisha that goes in them, coals and the small parts — hoses, bowls, foil. Brands like Cloud X and Starbuzz are common. If you’re putting one together for a group or a party, tell the staff how many people; it changes what you need. More in our guide to types of hookah, or see our hookah and shisha.

Cigars

Some smoke shops have a proper humidor; plenty don’t. A humidor is the climate-controlled cabinet or room that keeps cigars from drying out, and it’s worth looking for in Florida, where air conditioning pulls the moisture out of everything.

At iSmokee, the humidor is at our Orlando store only. Singles run from $8 to around $40, and our staff take the cigars out for you. The full walkthrough is in buying cigars in Orlando.

The small stuff

Lighters, grinders, rolling papers and wraps, ashtrays, cleaning supplies, travel cases. It’s easy to overlook, but it’s often the reason people come in. See our accessories.

Smoke shop, vape shop or tobacco shop?

The names overlap, and nobody enforces them, but roughly:

If you’re after one specific thing, it’s worth a quick call before you drive over, whatever the sign says.

Before you go

We wrote more on this in smoke shop etiquette.

FAQ

What do smoke shops sell?

Most smoke shops sell disposable vapes, flower and pre-rolls, edibles and gummies, CBD products, kratom, glass pipes and bongs, hookahs and shisha, accessories such as lighters, grinders and papers, and sometimes cigars. Exactly what is stocked varies by shop and changes often.

Is a smoke shop the same as a tobacco shop?

Not quite. A tobacco shop leans toward tobacco such as cigars and pipe tobacco. A smoke shop is usually broader, carrying vapes, glass, hookah, hemp products and accessories as well.

What is a head shop?

Head shop is an older name for a smoke shop, especially one known for glass pipes and bongs. Most head shops today carry the same range as any smoke shop.

Do I need ID to go into a smoke shop?

Smoke shops sell to adults 21 and over. At iSmokee we ask everyone for valid ID every time, and out-of-state licenses and passports are accepted.

Can I return something I bought at a smoke shop?

It depends on the shop. At iSmokee all sales are final, so it is worth checking the product properly at the counter before you pay.

Do both iSmokee stores sell the same products?

Yes, with one exception: cigars are sold only at our Orlando store on Palm Parkway. Everything else is carried at both Orlando and Kissimmee.
